ICO 3 Classroom Based Training


ICO 3 run several training events every year and we also provide private training for companies through prior arrangement.

The courses we are offering include:

Web site Promotion.

This course looks at a range of promotion strategies that can be undertaken to promote your web site. It includes search engine and portals registration, mutual links, newsgroups and mailing lists, standard advertising, creating banners and interpreting web site statistics. ICO3 members will be given the opportunity to be shown how their site has been promoted by the company and how they should interpret their access reports.

Using the Email for Business. (1/2 day course)

This course is suitable for you if you need to know more about how to use email in your everyday business life. The course covers the basics of sending and receiving emails, how to set up multiple or new email accounts, how to use a signature, how to operate mailing lists and send the same email to multiple recipients and how to set up and run a business newsletter for your clients. We also look at email scams, spam and viruses. If you currently host with ICO3 we can also show you how to set up your auto responder (see details below) and how to make the most of your ICO3 email account.

Web site publishing using Dreamweaver. (1 day course)

If you want to start producing your own web sites, or if you simply want to use this software to enhance and develop your site yourself, then this is the course for you. Dreamweaver is a relatively expensive piece of software, but if you have large plans for your web site then the investment might be worth it. Use this course to find out whether you like the software and to develop your own web site publishing skills.

A typical training schedule for a small company will look like this:

Day 1 (4 hours). Overview of Internet Technology: domain names,
servers, hosting options, content management, web publishing. Web Design Software overview- Dreamweaver, Front Page. Stages of website design.

Day 2 (4 hours). Web publishing: using Dreamweaver 4.0 or MX,
Fireworks or Photoshop, Notepad! Key principles of modern web design. At the end of this session you will be expected to make a software purchase and start your own design work. There will be a delay between this session and the next to give you a chance to use the software - and we will be engaged in email dialogue if necessary!

Day 3 (4 hours). Web publishing - follow up session. Overview of work
completed - suggestions for enhancement. FTP.

Day 4 (4 hours). Launching the site. Search engine optimisation.
Interpreting web server statistics. Other web site promotion
strategies.
